Summary, etc. A total of 300 day-old straight run commercial broiler chicks was used in this study to determine the relative performance characteristics of broilers given with different levels of brown sugar in drinking water. Birds in Treatment III (with 70% brown sugar in drinking water) attained higher body weight over all other treatments.
Birds in Treatment II (with c)/) brown sugar in drinking water) gave the highest net return. However, there were no significant differences observed in the cumulative average feed consumption, weight of the birds given sugar in drinking water feed efficiency and average body with different levels of brown. This result implies that broilers given with sugar gave no better effect on body weight.
Thus, it is not recommended to give brown sugar to broilers. How-ever, further study could be recommended but the levels of brown sugar should be closed or clustering 10 percent level. Mortality was observed during the brooding period. Treatment III had the highest mortality rate.
