This farm practice was conducted in Limbon, Indang Cavite from August 1981 to February 1982.<br/>Eight thousand (8,000) pineapple plants 914 months old) were established in seven thousand (7,000) square meter land. This seven thousand (7,000) square meter piece of land had been used for the purpose. Suckers of Hawaii variety of pineapple were planted at varying plant population from august, 1980. Harvesting was done on <br/>February, 1982. <br/>It is noted that Ethrel solution with the amount of 0.25 ppm per liter of water when applied in the heart of the pineapple plants produced flowers 35 days after application. <br/>There were no diseases observed in the plantation.<br/>Rats were only the pets attacking the fruits. They were controlled by using Dora rat killer.<br/>Results of the study showed that ethrel solution when applied to pineapple plants, produced flower earlier, give higher percentage fruit setting and heavier and sweeter fruits than those treated with calcium carbide. <br/> |
