A total of 300 day-old straight run broiler chicks were used in this study to determine the efficiency of some commercial feeds available in the market for broiler. The birds were equally and randomly distributed into two treatments with three replications consisting of 50 chicks per replication. Letter codes were used for every brand for some important reason. Birds in Treatment I were fed with Feed A and birds in Treatment II were fed with Feed B. Results showed significant difference on the first three weeks body weight of birds fed with Feed A over birds fed with Feed B. No significant difference was observed on the average feed consumption of birds throughout the expe-rimental period. Significant difference was observed on the feed efficiency of the birds during the entire period of the study. <br/>Mortality was 1% for Treatment I and 6% in Treat-ment II. The difference was insignificant, however. Study revealed that it was more economical to use Feed A than Feed B in broiler production. <br/> |
