Bachelor of Science in Psychology,<br/>Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, College of Arts and Sciences, Cavite<br/>State University, Indang Cavite, June 2019, Adviser: Ms. Mary Jane A. Amparo<br/><br/>This study determined the lived experiences of old-aged individuals in selected<br/>municipalities in Cavite, their perceptionson life, and their perceptionson ageing.<br/>This study used an Interpretative Phenomenological Approach (IPA) on this qualitative<br/>research through purposive sampling. It also used a validated interview guide with 17<br/>questions about the participant's lived experiences. This was conducted from December 2018<br/>to January 2019. There were 8 participants with ages 65 — 79. They gave their consent to use<br/>the recorder during the interview.<br/>It was revealed that the participants experienced various conflicts, like unfulfilled<br/>personal dreams, but that did not stop them from being happy and thankful for what they have<br/>and what they have achieved. They were satisfied in being able to fulfill their obligations as a<br/>parent and in conquering life challenges. They were able to feel contentment in life because of<br/>living simply and enjoying what they have achieved.<br/>In analyzing the data, the researchers formed two superordinate themes which are<br/>positive Attitudes towards Ageing and Lifestyle with four subthemes including conquered life<br/>challenges, valuing family relationship, constantly participating in community — related activities<br/>and Keeping good health in the lived experiences of oldaged individuals. In perception on<br/>ageing, the researchers formed two superordinate themes which are positive views in ageing<br/>Improving quality of life with five subthemes including contentment, parental accomplishment<br/>through children's achievement, maintaining a simple life, wishing for longer life and seeking<br/>stability in family context.<br/>Finally, it was concluded that being active in life would give the old-aged individuals<br/>more satisfaction rather than seeing themselves getting weaker and older as time passes by. |
