Undergraduate thesis. Bachelor of Science in Criminology, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019, Adviser: Ms. Silkie Tuguinay.<br/><br/>The study of socio-demographic-profile, current condition and social response of drug surrenderers in a selected barangay of Amadeo, Cavite. This study is to determine the socio-demograhic profile of the drug surrenderer in terms of; age, sex, civil status and educational attainment, and the current condition of drug surrenders in terms of: occupation, recovery stage and family relationship and the assessment of barangay officials to drug surrenderers in terms of occupation, recovery stage and family relationship and the social response in tems of; community relationship and community based-program, and also to determine the significant relationship of current condition of drug surrenderer and social responses of drug surrenderer as assessed by barangay officials.<br/><br/>A self-made questionnaire was used in this study. Purposive sampling was used to select the participants. In this type of design, the drug surrenderer was selected as part of the samples due to good evidence that they voluntarily turned themselves in the custody and rehabilitation, , the total enumeration of 41 drug surrenderer to determine the socio-demographic profile and they current condition, and 41 brgy official at Amadeo, Cavite as to determine the social response of drug surrenderer as assessed by barangay offcial. Descriptive method was used in analyzing the data. Based on the findings of this study, the following are concluded.<br/><br/>As regards to the socio-demographic profile of the surrenderer. Most of the participants were ages bracket of 29 to 37, male, married and high school graduate.<br/><br/>The current condition of drug surrenderers in terms of occupation resulted in good and there is no alarming results. Having a special skill could help them to have a good and regular job. The surrenderer have the respect and symphathy and the cooperation of their co-workers. It proves that being involved in illegal activities will not affect the entire lifestyle, as long as people change there always an opportunity. Past experiences will not determine the future life.<br/><br/>As assessed by barangay officials to drug surrenderers in terms of occupation, it was resulted by the participants, the assessment of barangay officials are reliable. Having a good and regular job, the drug surrenderer with the assessment was resulted positive. The drug surrenderer are not experience bullying with their co-workers. The<br/>barangay officials believed that the community on behalf of their co-workers will not affected the life of the drug surrenderer. In fact, they affect in a positive way for the better future of the drug surrenderer. It proves that being involved in illegal activities will not affect the entire lifestyle, as long as people always have an opportunity.<br/>Past experiences will not determine the future life.<br/><br/>The current condition of drug surrenderers and the social responses in terms of recovery stage. For the drug surrenderer the stage of recovery of the surrenderer will nothing last longer. The willingness of the drug surrenderer to undergo drug test, can<br/>seeing the confidence of the surrenderer to get the result of negative in drug test in fact they know to their selves that they not using illegal drugs anymore after being rehabilitated or surrendering and also undergoing drug test is one of requirements in completion of community based-programs. The willingness of the drug surrenderer to take illegal drugs has no desirement to go back to intoxicating illegal drugs.<br/><br/>As for the barangay official believed to the ability of the surrenderer that they can change from bad into good in their own way and discretion. Barangay officials observed that the surrenderer has nothing relation to illegal drugs and the mind-set of the surrenderer will turn into making a good things.<br/><br/>The current condition of drug surrenderers in terms of family relationship. The drug surrenderer and their family had a good relationship and a good chances for them to avoid for involving in using illegal drugs. The family of the drug surrenderer will not ended in having a good relationship but also by the efforts and the willingness to help for the past recovery. The surrenderer proves that there are no any problem within their family and it was supported by the barangay officials assessment.<br/><br/>As for the barangay official barangay officials believed, that the drug surrenderer has good relationship, concerns and even in attending the religious activities it was observed by the barangay officials. The barangay official have seen the care of the family of the surrenderer for the recovery and all the Support and care given by the family of the surrenderer was enough to show the desirement of their family in recovery of drug surrenderer.<br/><br/>The social response to drug surrenderer in terms of community relationship as assessed by barangay officials. The community will also have the concems to drug surrenderer for the development and improvement of their current condition for them<br/>to be guide and remind me if there's a lapses. The drug surrenderer will get the support and sympathy of the drug surrenderer, how the drug surrenderer being a problem if they act in accordance with the community desires, to become a law abiding citizen and not a threat to any one.<br/><br/>The social response to drug surrenderers in terms of community-based program. The community based-program increase the quality and effectiveness to prevent any unexpected factors that affects the treatment in the rehabilitation of drug surrenderer. The community based-proram preventing disease and injury and improving health and enhacing the quality of life. All necessary equipment and facility needed for rehabillitation was provided, well installed and they use it properly even the policy’s it<br/>was adequate in maintaining the facility.<br/><br/>Coefficient on the relationship as assessed between current condition and social responses of drug surrenderer. Data showed that there is no significant relationship between current condition and social responses because the social responses did not focuses on the occupation, recovery stage and family relationship of the surrenderer.<br/><br/>But with other aspect of the rehabilitation and recovery program of the drug surrenderer.<br/> |
