Del<br/>Mundo, RN, MAN, PhD.<br/><br/>The study, entitled "Utilization of Alugbati (Basella rubra) and Kamias (Averrhoa bilimbi)<br/>Ethanolic Extract Basis for Liquid Soap Formulation" was conducted at Department of Medical<br/>Technology Laboratory, College of Nursing, Cavite State University-Indang Campus from July to<br/>October 2019. The study generally aimed to determine the combined effect of Alugbati, and<br/>Kamias extracts as an antimicrobial liquid soap. Specifically, the study is to determine the<br/>concentration Alugbati and Kamias ethanolic extract significantly inhibit the growth of bacteria,<br/>identify which group of bacteria would Alugbati and Kamias ethanolic extract be more effective<br/>in inhibiting its growth and determine which antimicrobial soap could be formulated.<br/>Alugbati leaves were collected from Tres Cruses, Tanza Cavite and Kamias leaves were<br/>collected in Trece Martires City, Cavite.<br/>Based on the results of the study, the researchers would like to recommend the<br/>following: To utilize other parts of Alugbati (e.g. stem) to extract the maximum antimicrobial<br/>constituent present in the plant sample; To utilize other parts of Kamias (e.g. stem and fruit) to<br/>extract the maximum antimicrobial constituent present in the plant sample because leaves does<br/>not produce maximal antimicrobial effect; To use other solvents in the extract preparation; To<br/>have a larger population of respondents to test the effectivity of the liquid soap; To extend the<br/>study using different concentration of Alugbati and Kamias extract, and to further investigate on<br/>other plants which can produce antimicrobial activity other than Alugbati and Kamias. |
