RODIS, OSCAR P. _ ' 'Growth and Bulb size Performance of Onion as Affected by Different Organic Fertilizers and Watering Frequencies, ' a Research Study of the Agricultural Science Curriculum, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang Cavite, March 1991. Adviser: Professor Josefina Viado<br/>The study was conducted to determine the effect of different organic fertilizers and watering frequencies on the growth, bulb size performance, as we I I as the percentage survival of onion at the researcher's residence at Kayquit , Indang, Cavite, from October 1990 to March 1991 . It further aimed to; 1) know the best kind of organic fertilizer to be applied in onion; 2) find out the best watering frequency to be used in growing this crop; and 3) determine which treatment will give the most satisfactory bulb size of onion.<br/>A total of 216 onion seedlings were used in a Randomized Complete Block Design ( RCBD) with three replications, three main plot factor (watering frequency) and four subplot factor (kinds of organic fertilizer) , composing of 12 treatments.<br/>The study reveals that frequency of watering has not greatly affected the production of onion. On the other hand, however, kinds of organic fertilizer applied to the crop showed great effect in its production. Treatments with the application of dried chicken manure and ipil—ipil leaves were the best for onion .It was found out that onion when supplemented with dried chicken manure and ipil—ipil leaves grows faster with greener, longer and heal their leaves, and the bulbs produced were I anger in terms of its polar and equatorial diameter, as well as the weight of the bulbs.<br/> |
