BUWAYA KEVIN P. and GUYAMIN, MC CYRIL R., Improvement of Four Stroke Cycle Gasoline Engine Trainer, Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology, major in Automotive Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2022. Adviser: Prof. Danielito R. Escaño.

One method of operating a four-stroke gasoline direct-injection controlled auto-ignition gasoline engine is to open both the intake and exhaust valves during the port sections of the expansion strokes and the starting portion of the contraction moves, injecting fuel directly into the combustion chamber for mixing with maintained gases and igniting the fuel near the ends of the contraction strokes. For the majority of the expansion strokes, combustion gases are expanded to produce power, after which are blown down into the discharge port and air inlet before even being partially redrawn into the chamber with the atmosphere air during the terminal parts of the expansion strokes, raising the temperature of the air charges. The main focus of the study was the improvement of the four-stroke cycle gasoline engine instructional trainer. The improvement focused on the principles of operation that occur inside the engine. The researcher installed an induction motor and put a speed reducer. The broken parts were replaced with new working parts and components. The design project improvement also featured advanced technology by installing Speed Reducer and timer for the laser spark plug. The researchers reconditioned the engine by repainting faded paint, installing a roll-up motor or induction motor and speed reducer, adding new wheels to make the mockup easier to move, improve the engine trainer's presentation, and reduce the difficulty of troubleshooting and actual hands-on activities by the students. The induction motor runs the entire engine, and by adding a speed reducer, the engine's speed was reduced, allowing the student to observe the engine's internal engine operation. Installing timer for laser spark plug to the mock up to show a real time spark, when it lights up it indicates the timing of the engine to combust air and fuel mixture. The researchers conducted tests that demonstrated the engine's effectiveness and achievement of the project's improvement goal. After being evaluated by automotive instructors, the design project was found to be effective, with an outstanding evaluation result that underlined the importance of attaining the design project's ultimate goal.
|
