Summary, etc. DE CHAVEZ, GERALD M., ELIVERA, BOBBY JOSHUA A., QUIBOLOY, ALMERSON
D., AND TERRIBLE, JC M., Rise of the Undead: A Multiplayer Co-Op Game Utilizing
Artificial Intelligence and Pathfinding Algorithm. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of
Science in Computer Science. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2022.
Adviser: Ms. Ria Clarisse M. Sy.
The study was conducted at Tagaytay, and Indang, Cavite from April to June 2022. All
significant data were gathered from various related literature and studies, online sources, and
books obtained from the internet. The aim of this research was to develop a game entitled "Rise
of the Undead: A Multiplayer Coop Game Utilizing Artificial Intelligence and Pathfinding
Algorithm". The goal of this research was to: (1) implement proximity detection to the enemy bot.
This sensor will serve as the trigger in which the machine state of the bot will change; (2) create
a bot that utilizes a pathfinding algorithm, wherein the bot will find the shortest route possible
towards the player. Two tasks are expected to be met by the bots. Firstly, is its ability to navigate
in a maze-type environment and is able to respond before the commencement of combat and
during combat; (3) provide a more inclusive significant game content by letting the players
change the POV from first person to third person by pressing a key. The third person POV will
serve as a looking function for determining where enemies and collectibles are; (4) create
multiplayer features to the game enabling a more cooperative gameplay all throughout the entire
game; (5) assess the proposed game using Unit testing and Integration testing. These tests will
help improve the game in terms of code integrity and overall functionalities of the game; and (6)
create a complete and functional game that will provide entertainment. The developers used
Unity NavMesh for path finding algorithm, Unity Assets for in-game design (collectibles) and
payment system to buy firearms and ammo, self- made code for proximity detection, and Photon
Pun 2 for establishing network connection are used to fulfill the goals. The researchers used
statistical analysis to compute the mean and standard deviation to establish the system's
importance. Following that, 50 non-technical individuals and 10 technical participants evaluated
the system's functionality, dependability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability
following the criteria based on ISO. Based on the result of the evaluation the application was
rated excellent in all software criteria such as the functionality, reliability, usability, maintainability,
efficiency, and portability. The overall average of system evaluation for non-technical is 4.75 and
tech is 4.36. As a result, the researcher concluded that the game Rise of the Undead: A
Multiplayer Co-op Game Utilizing Artificial Intelligence is attracting, engaging, and entertaining to
users.
