Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Cavite State University,<br/>Indang, Cavite. March 2010. Adviser: Ms. Vina V. Velasco, R.N.<br/><br/>This study was conducted to assess the level of awareness on Cheaper MedicineLaw among residents of Barangay Fatima III and Sampaloc II, Dasmarinas, Cavite. Specifically this study aimed to (1) identify the demographic profile of the respondents in Fatima II and Sampaloc III; (2) assess the respondent’s level of awareness on Cheaper Medicine Law; and (3) determine the relationship between the respondent’s demographic profile and their level of awareness on Cheaper Medicine Law.<br/><br/>A set of survey questionnaires was given to the target population to gather the data and information essential to the study. Majority of the respondents were 20-29 years of age, mostly female, married, high school graduates and with a monthly family income of 3,001 to 6,000.<br/><br/>Statistical treatment used were: Spearman Ranked Correlation Coefficient, to determine the degree of relationship between the respondents’ age and their level of awareness on Cheaper Medicine Law; Chi Square, to determine the relationship between the respondents’ educational attainment and monthly family income to their level of awareness on Cheaper Medicine Law; T- Test, to determine the difference in level of awareness on Cheaper Medicine Law when group according to gender and civil status.<br/><br/>Results showed that respondents have little awareness on Cheaper Medicine Law based on a four point Likert Scale and the most common source of information was television. The results also revealed that there is a significant relationship between the respondent’s age and monthly family income in relation to his/ her level of awareness on Cheaper Medicine Law. While in terms of the respondent’s level of awareness on Cheaper Medicine Law in relation to gender, civil status and educational attainment results revealed no significance. Results also revealed that the major outlet of generic medicines is the Generics Pharmacy.<br/><br/>An individual’s age and monthly family income affects his or her level of awareness on Cheaper Medicine Law. As age progresses people become more aware of current health issues and people below the poverty level are more conscious in seeking affordable health care. This signifies that these people are much aware of current health issues related to affordable health care like Cheaper Medicine Law.<br/><br/>An individual’s gender, civil status, and educational attainment do not affect his or her level of awareness on Cheaper Medicine Law. Whether an individual is male or female; single/separated/widowed or married; with low or high educational attainment, it does not necessarily mean that one has greater awareness than the other. |
