CORTEZ, ROBEILYN A. Income Management of Households in Selected First Class Municipalities in Lowland Cavite. B.S. Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Economics. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2010. Adviser: Ms. Jenny Beb F. Ebo.<br/><br/>A study was conducted to describe the socio-demographic characteristics of heads of households, identify the level of income of households, determine the percentage share of spending to the total income of households, identify the saving techniques of the households, determine the reasons that motivate households to save, identify the reasons of households not to save, describe the relationship between socio-economic profile and income, and determine the problems encountered by the households in managing income.<br/><br/>The study was conducted in selected first class municipalities in lowland Cavite. A total of 200 households heads were interviewed using interview schedule.<br/><br/>Results of the study showed that the average age of the respondents was 41 years. Two-thirds of the respondents were female (66%). Most of the households-head were married (81%) and two-thirds of them were college graduate (66%). The household size of the respondents ranged from 2 — 12 with an average of six members. The number of dependents ranged from 1 — 8 with an average of four dependents.<br/><br/>Majority of the respondents from Dasmarifias(83%), Bacoor(62%) and Imus(44%) fall under the low level bracket income (Php5,000- Php30,000).<br/><br/>Banking was the major saving technique of households. Most of the respondents cited that emergency needs were the reasons for saving and low income was the reason for not saving. Using the chi-square test, results revealed that income is significantly related to educational attainment and age of households-heads. These were proven at five percent level of significance. Most of the respondents reported that increasing price of all commodities was the major problem in managing income. |
