DELA CRUZ, GENESIS F. Risk factors of Dropping Out Among Grade VI Students of Cavite National High School, Division of Cavite City, SY 2012-2013 Master’s Thesis. Master of Arts in Education major in Guidance and Counseling. Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. April 2013. Adviser: Dr. Liza C. Costa.<br/><br/>The study identified the risk factors of dropping out among Grade VII students of Cavite National High School, Division of Cavite City, SY 2012-2013. Descriptive survey method was used in this study. A 50-item questionnaire was used in data gathering. Expert validation was done to determine the validity and reliability of the instrument. A total of 87 Grade VII Students-At-Risk-of-Dropping-Out (SARDOs) were involved in this study. The study used Chi-Square, Kruskall Wallis Test and mann Whitney Test in the statistical treatment of data.<br/><br/>Results revealed that the respondents were within the standard age limit for Grade . VII students which is 13 years old. Males may become SARDOS that females. SARDOs come from low economic status and complete families contrary to the common belief that they came from single-parent families.<br/><br/>Findings also showed that parent’s involvement in educating their children contributed to the very good perception on family related factors. Based on the socio-demographic profile, no significant difference was found on the respondents’ perception on the four major recognized risk factors. This also revealed that laziness and being late are the top reasons for absences among the SARDOs. Remedial and tutorial classes are perceived by the respondents as school-initiated intervention measures to prevent school disengagement or dropping out. |
