Summary, etc. MALIMBAN, TRICIA JOY S., MANALO, MIKAELLA P., Knowledge on Preventive Measures Used to Reduce Risk of Contact Transmission against COVID-19 among Nursing Students of Cavite State University-Main. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2022. Adviser: Prof. Nenita B. Panaligan, RN, MAN
This research paper focuses on studying the knowledge on preventive measures used to reduce risk of contact transmission against COVID-19 among nursing students of Cavite State University-Main. The data was gathered through online survey questionnaires that came from a stratified random sampling technique to pick out the 243 respondents for the treatment itself. The researchers formulated their own questionnaire based on the gathered literature and standard preventive measures suggested by the health sector. This was used to further determine how the respondent's answer relates to their level of knowledge of preventive measures used (primary, secondary, and tertiary) as well as their demographic profile. The data was then analyzed with the use of statistical treatments such as the frequency and percentage distribution, weighted mean, Pearson r, Point-Biserial Correlation, Likelihood Ratio, Mann-Whitney U Test, Kruskal Wallis Test, Independent T-test, and ANOVA.
The majority of respondents aged 17 to 24 (98.8%), composed of female nursing students (86.3%) at first year level (39.5%). In terms of the level of knowledge of nursing students on preventive measures used to reduce the transmission contact against COVID-19, there were 121 (48.8%) nursing students scored between ratings 11—14, which indicates good; while 119 (48%) nursing students scored between ratings 6—10, which indicates fair; and four (1.6%) nursing students scored between ratings 0—5, which indicates poor. There were three (I .2%) nursing students scored between ratings 15—17, which indicates very good; and only one (0.4%) nursing student scored between ratings 18—20, which indicates excellent. The result further indicates that nursing students are very knowledgeable about primary prevention with a total mean score of 3.44 and a standard deviation of .521. Nursing students are knowledgeable enough in terms of secondary prevention with a total mean score of 3.22 and a standard deviation of .543. However, they are less knowledgeable about tertiary prevention, with a total mean score of 2.36 and a standard deviation of .827. Moreover, the study proves that there is no significant relationship between the respondent's profile and their knowledge of preventive measures used to reduce the transmission contact against COVID-19. There is also no significant difference on the level of knowledge on preventive measures used to reduce the transmission contact against COVID-19 when grouped according to age, sex, and year level. For further research, the study is open for improvement by using different factors that may have a relationship with knowledge in preventive measures used to reduce the risk of contact transmission against COVID-19 virus.
