AGUSTIN, JACQUELYN C. Raising Quail in Selected Towns of Bulacan.Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Animal Science.Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2003. Adviser: Prof. Erano Esguerra. <br/>Ten towns in Bulacan namely: Pulilan, San Rafael, Sta. Maria, San Jose del Monte, Bustos, Plaridel, Pandi, Guiguinto, and Malolos were surveyed to determine the different management practices employed by quail raisers. <br/>Majority of the raisers were male. Most of them were a college graduate, which shows that quail rising is not difficult to handle and manage. <br/>The most common breed of quail raised by the respondents was Japanese-Seattle. Ad-libitum feeding was commonly practiced in terms of feeding system. Quails were fed twice a day by most of the respondents. They used combination of commercial and local feeds. <br/>All respondents raised quail for egg production. They selected quails based on age of animal, health condition, and body size. Quail started laying the age of six weeks or 35 days. Quail laid most of the egg during evening. Natural brooding was also practiced. The average egg production by the quail is almost sixty percent.<br/> |
