TIQUIS, GERONE L. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2005. Effect of Varying Levels of Fish Meal Analogue in the Growth Performance of Broiler. Undergraduate Thesis. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Adviser: Alvin-William A. Alvarez, DVM. <br/>The study was conducted to assess the effect of different levels of fish meal analogue (Proteinplex®) and fish meal (Peruvian) on the growth performance of male and female broilers. Treatments were, 1 (male, 0% FMA), 2 (male, 2.5% FMA), 3 (male, 5% FMA), 4 (female, 0% FMA), 5 (female, 2.5% FMA) and 6 (female, 5% FMA). Significant difference in final body weight was observed in broilers given diets with 0% and 5% FMA. In both sexes, birds given feeds without FMA achieved highest gain in weight. Feed consumption, feed conversion ratio as well as average daily gain was adversely affected with the inclusion of FMA in the formulated diets. Treatments 3 and 6 which has the highest inclusion of FMA consumed the least amount of feed. In terms of cost effectiveness, treatment 1 achieved the highest income while treatment 6 achieved the least. <br/> |
