Summary, etc. FERRANCO, CHERRY ANN G. Operation of Private Secondary Schools in Selected Towns of Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Major in Marketing, Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. April 2006. Adviser: Mrs. Ma. Corazon A. Buena.
A study was conducted to determine the operation of private secondary schools in selected towns of Cavite. Specifically, the study aimed to: describe the profile of private secondary schools in selected towns of Cavite, describe the operational practices of private secondary schools, determine the level of income of private secondary schools, and identify the problems encountered by school administrators in the operation of a private secondary school. Quota samples of 100 private secondary schools were utilized in the study. Descriptive statistical tools such as frequency count, mean, range, percentage and rank were used to answer the objective of the study. Results showed that private secondary schools were operating for a relatively long number of years. ,There were only few sections per year level. All schools offered installment payment from students which implies that schools offered flexible terms of payment to students. Further, an average of 13 teachers were employed in private secondary school which implies that in general, there were two teachers handling the students per year level. Foundation day, Linggo ng Wika celebration and Sports fest were the activities that were celebrated in all private secondary schools. In terms of facilities, very few schools had chapel, stage, audio room, and playroom. This means that these are the facilities that were not given priority by private secondary schools due to limited space available. Foundation day, Linggo ng Wika celebration and Sports fest were the activities that were celebrated in all private secondary schools. The annual net income of private secondary schools suggests that private secondary schools were generally earning more than PhP160,000 per month. This implies that the owners of private secondary schools obtained a large net income. It is suggested that activities should be made to generate more funds such as increase the number of enrollees through promotions and advertising and reduction of operating costs by sensible use of school supplies, water and electricity. Also, it is recommended that the school management strictly implement its policy on collection of school fees.
