SUAREZ, MA. JOAN B. "Management Practices Employed at Villa Pandan Gamecock Farm," a Special Problem, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Cavite State University, April 2002. Adviser: Dr. Magdalena N. Alcantara.<br/>The study was conducted at Villa Pandan Gamecock Farm at Sahud Ulan, Tanza, Cavite from January 26 to February 26, 2002. The general objective of the study was to determine the management practices of Villa Pandan Gamecock raisers. Specifically, the study aimed to determine the breeds of cock being raised in the farm; the management practices employed by the raiser; and the constraints / problems encountered by the raisers in the management of gamecocks.<br/>Data were gathered through observation and personal interview with the farm owner and other farm workers. The data were analyzed using frequency counts. The farm has a total land area of 1.3 hectares with a range area equivalent to 400 square meters.<br/>Game fowls are housed in cages, scratching pen and teepees. They are fed with different types of commercial feeds which are given at a particular age. Birds are fed twice a day.<br/>Breeders are imported from America by one of the raiser respondents. The management practices employed by the raiser respondents include their feeding practices, vaccination and deworming program, medication program, bio-security measures, breeding practices and conditioning program.<br/>The frequently mentioned problems by the raiser respondents include insufficient manpower of the farm. The raiser respondents are well satisfied with the performance of the game fowls.<br/> |
