The study aimed to find out the effects of the furrow method on the growth and yield of mungo crop. It was conducted from August 1972 to November 1972 at the Don Severino Agricultural College field, with the use of 404 square meters of land and shiny green type of mungo. The area was slightly sloping thereby having a good drainage.<br/><br/>The salient findings of this the study may be summarised as follows: <br/>Planting mungo in furrows significantly increased the number of pods per plants than planting them by broadcast method. <br/><br/>Shiny green type of mungo planted in furrow significantly increased the number of seeds per pod as compared to those planted by broadcast.<br/><br/>Furrow method of planting significantly increased the production of clean dried mungo seeds. <br/><br/>Broadcast method of planting significantly increased the production of heavier dried pods as compared with those produced in the furrow method. <br/><br/>Furrow method of planting gave no effect or the following: length of pods, heights of plants at maturity, dry weight per plant, dry weight of 100 seeds and percentage of well developed seeds in the pods. <br/> |
