The study, Intercropping Peanut to Sunflower, was conducted from November 19, 1977 to february 19, 1978 at Agus-os, Indang Cavite purposely to determine the effect of peanut as an intercrop to sunflower. <br/>The land was prepared by plowing and harrowing three times at an interval of one week for every operation. Alternate-complete-block design was used with four replications and two treatments. Seeds of sunflower were planted in between the rows of sunflower as intercrop. <br/>Three days after planting, the peanut seeds began to germinate while the sunflower seeds, five days later. <br/>The peanut began to flower within 29 days after planting while the sunflower flowered 44 days after planting. The crops matured within 98 days as indicated by yellowing and constant of leaves. <br/>Sunflower without intercrop produced shorter and lower yield as compared to sunflower intercropped to peanut and therefore, the author recommends the practice of intercropping of peanut and sunflower for higher production.<br/> |
