Relationship of Involvement in Extra-Curricular Activities to Academic Performance of the High School Studentsof DSAC, SY1995 - 1996. Adviser: Dr. Cristeta M. Montano <br/><br/> This research study attempted to determine the relationship of involvement in extra-curricular activities to academic performance of the high school students of DSAC, SY 1995 - 3996. <br/>The total population in this study was 520 high school students in DSAC Laboratory School. This study used 154 respondents which is 30% of the total population. It was found out in this study that most of the respondents were fourteen years old. Likewise, most of the respondents were female. Half of the respondents had low family income. The respondents had low involvement in extra-curricular activities. They were heterogenous in terms of involvement in extra-curricular activities. The high school students of the DSAC, Laboratory School, School Year, 1995 - 1996 had fair academic performance. They were homogenous in terms of academic performance. <br/><br/> It was also found out that age is related to the level of involvement in extra curricular activities. Those respondents who were family 15 years old had the highest involvement. income were not related to the level of extra-curricular activities. Both sex and involvement in Both age and family income were not related to academic performance while sex is related. Female students performed better academically than male students. Involvement in extra-curricular activities is related to academic performance of the high school student SY 1999 - 1996. Those who were highly involved in extra-curricular activities is performed better academically.<br/> Based on the findings in this study, the following strongly recommended: 1) the students could be encouraged to get more involved in extra curricular activities since its <br/>relationship to academic performance is favorable; 2) the teachers, guidance counselors, administrators and parents should enlighten the students in their involvement in extra-curricular activities without prejudice to their academic performance further studies on the relationship of involvement in extra-curricular activities using attitude toward school as the criterion variable and mental ability as another demographic variable should he conducted involving a bigger population and sampler, 4) further studies which will focus on the officers the organization only. <br/> |
