Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, May 2009. Adviser: Eugene M. Principe, DVM, MS. <br/><br/> The study determined the effect of Inmunair® 17.5 on body weight, average daily gain, feed consumption, feed conversion rate, mortality rate, morbidity rate, weight and size of bursa of Fabricius of broiler chickens. The study used 300 day-old Cobb strain chicks equally and randomly distributed to two treatments with two replications each. <br/><br/> The treatments were: T1 (control), and T2 (with Inmunair® 17.5, lml /10 Kg bw given orally through drinking water during the first five days and two consecutive days after day fourteen). Broiler chickens without Inmunair® 17.5 (T1) had higher body weight (1848.33g), and ADO (56.20). However, the difference was not statistically significant. Bird given Inmunair® 17.5 obtained a better FCR (1.77) and the total feed consumption of TI (890 kg.) was not significantly different compared to T2 (1082.9. kg) from week 1 to 4. Morbidity rate in T1 was 50% while 13% morbidity was observed in T2. <br/><br/> Mild respiratorysigns were observed during the third week of the study. Mortality was significantly higher in T2 with 17.2%, in contrast with 5.61% of T1 at the end of the study. No difference in size of bursa of Fabricius was observed for the whole duration of the study. Cost and return analysis revealed that broiler chickens raised without Inmunair® 17.5 was more profitable (Php 26.84) compared to those given with Inmunair® 17.5 (Php -19.18). In conclusion, Inmunair® 17.5 supplementation showed no improvement on the growth performance of the animals under actual commercial farm conditions<br/> |
