TAYOBONG, ALMERIAN B. and MABUGAT, QUEENNIE MAE D. Strategic Plan on the Control of Illegal Drugs in Trece Martires City. Case Study. Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Department of Criminology, College of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. 2010. Adviser: Prof. Susan G. Tan.

"Strategic Plan on the Control of Illegal Drugs in Trece Martires City" is a case study conducted to enhance the student's knowledge in the procedure and importance of control of illegal drugs. This also aims to benefit the community residents of Trece Martires City to become aware of the effect of illegal drugs which also cause other serious crimes. It further aims to establish strategic plans to suppress prevalence of illegal drugs in the City in coordination with the TMC Police and other government agencies, thus, maintaining TMC as a drug free city. The concerned local government units implement activities necessary to lay the groundwork for an effective barangay clearing operations. The respondents of the study included six Police Officers of the Trece Martires City Component Police Station (TMCCPS).

The survey was done from December 2009 — February 2010 during the respondents' convenient time. This research is a descriptive study consisting of a set of gathered information which were analyzed, summarized and interpreted along certain lines of thought for the pursuit of a specific purpose. The researchers used observation method and interviews. A survey questionnaire was prepared as one of the data gathering instruments.

Through the case study, different strategies to minimize if not totally control the occurrence of drug dependence in TMC were identified. Out of 13 barangays, there are three barangays which are identified as contaminated with illegal drugs activities. The remaining ten barangays were declared as drug free barangays. Based on the gathered data, it can be concluded that a strategic plan can be devised to suppress drug dependence, drug addiction and drug trafficking through concerted efforts of the local government units, non-governmental organizations, religious sectors, community residents and the youth.
|
