Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. November 2010. Adviser: Dr. Maria A. Ersando. "MPs 2001-24)10 - 040 <br/><br/> An entrepreneurial development project was conducted at the backyard of Layco's Residence in #0739 Saluysoy St., Brgy. San Agustin, Trece Martires City, Cavite, from July 01 to September 30, 2010 to enable the students to apply their knowledge and skills in management and enable them to learn while they earn. <br/><br/> The entrepreneurs purchased the day-old chicks (Cobb) from PHILMALAY Hatchery at Mataas na Lupa, Indang, Cavite. One hundred chicks were purchased for each batch. The production practices observed in the project include brooding, rearing, feeding, weighing, medication, waste management and harvesting. The products sold were dressed and live chicken. Live chicken were sold at PhP90.00/kilogram while dressed chicken were sold at PhP30.00/kilogram. Dressed chicken were sold fresh or chilled. The market outlets for the products include walk-in buyers, residents of Transville Home Subdivision and buyers from Tanza Public Market. The project generated a total sales of PhP27,820.00 from two batches of broilers. On the other hand, costs and expenses for the two batches had a total of PhP21,954.00. The project had a total net income of PhP5,866.00 for the three-month operation. At the end of the operation, the total assets and total partners' equity amounted to PhP31,808.00. <br/><br/> The gross profit margin of the project for the three-month operation was 26.34% and the net profit margin was 21.09%. The total return on investment (ROI) of the project was 22.69% and the return on assets was 22.69%. The main problems encountered were the mortality among broilers and difficulty in looking for outlets with more attractive prices. The partners realized the importance of hard work, cooperation and commitment. Likewise, they also realized how important it is to have adequate capital as well as technical know-how about the project.<br/> |
