Undergraduate Design Project, Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. March 2011, Adviser: Engr. Edwin R. Arboleda.<br/>The Implementation of an RFID Based Automated Logbook for the College of<br/>Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT Logbook) was developed at Banaba Cerca, Indang, Cavite from November 2010 to January 2011. The design project was tested and evaluated at the Information Technology Building of the College of Engineering and Information Technology in Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite from February I to February 10, 2011.<br/>Generally, the study was focused on the implementation of an RFID based automated CEIT logbook. Specifically, it aimed to automatically record the time of logging in and logging out of the faculty members and staff; develop software that will control the system; evaluate the system using pilot testing; compare the performance of RFID system and Bundy clock system in terms of speed; and conduct a cost computation. Also, it focused on eliminating the long queue caused by the Bundy clock system. The automated CEIT logbook is capable of viewing, adding, deleting, printing of data and computing for the late and total hours work of each employee.<br/>The design project was composed of software and hardware part. The Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 was used to develop the software. The software was composed of one database and two tables. The tables were linked through the relationship function of the<br/>Microsoft Access. The first table was used for the registration and the other was for the daily recording of the transactions of each faculty members and staff. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used for statistical analysis. The hardware was composed of RFID reader, RFID tags and the host computer.<br/>After all data were obtained, it was observed that the RFID reader records faster than the Bundy clock, thus eliminating the long queue caused by the old system. For financial consideration, the system costs Php 33, 906.125.<br/>Several recommendations were made after testing and evaluating the performance and operation of the automated CEIT logbook like add camera to monitor the holder of the tag, create cover on the RFID reader for safety measures, use casing made up of more rugged material instead of wood; and use RFID reader with longer range.<br/> |
