Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2014. Adviser: Engr. Willie C. Buclatin. <br/><br/> The study identified the ergonomic risk factors in rice planting associated to musculoskeletal disorder. The individual attributes, work-related factors and working postures were analyzed with respect to the frequency and severity of stress symptoms on specified body parts to determine risk factors that permits the occurrences of musculoskeletal disorder. <br/>A survey questionnaire was formulated based on previous published research studies of musculoskeletal discomfort among farm workers. A total sample size of 222 participants which was equally distributed was obtained from the municipality of Naic, Cavite. <br/><br/> Correlation analysis such as Somer's D was used to describe the degree of relationship between personal attributes, frequency, duration and posture to the development of musculoskeletal symptoms wherein it revealed that individual attributes of age, body mass index, hereditary disease, working hours per day, total land area of planted palay, period of working, bending or stooping while standing (frequency and duration) and walking (frequency and duration) were linked in the presence of musculoskeletal disorder of farm workers. In line with this, Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) Worksheet showed that farm workers were exposed to high risk level of activity. This study suggested standards and work practices that would lessen the intensity of musculoskeletal disorder as well as its impact to the performance of farm workers not only during the planting activity but also to their other points of interest. <br/> |
