Desinganio<br/>Specifically, the study aimed to determine: 1) the perceived parenting style of out of school youth as authoritarian, authoritative, permissive, and uninvolved; 2) the level of temperament of out of school youth as choleric, melancholic, phlegmatic, and sanguine; 3) the level of subjective well being of out of school youth as life satisfaction, positive affect, and negative affect; 4) if there is a significant relationship between parenting style and temperament of out of school youth in selected barangays in Indang, Cavite; 5) if there is a significant relationship between temperament and subjective well-being of out of school youth in selected barangays in Indang, Cavite; and 6) if there is a significant relationship between parenting style and subjective well-being of out of school youth in selected barangays in Indang, Cavite. The study was conducted from December 2013 to January 2014 using the modified and validated instrument. There were four parts in the instrument scale composed of 20 items for parenting style, 32 items for temperament, 15 items for life satisfaction, and 12 items for positive and negative affect. Based on the data gathered, there were 100 out of school youth ranging from 16-24 years old who were detached from school. Purposive sampling specifically snowball sampling was used in determining the participants. Based on the findings, most participants perceived authoritarian parenting while generally, their temperament was found to be phlegmatic. <br/>The subjective well -being of the participants in terms of life satisfaction was found to be in an average level. On the other hand, positive affect revealed in high level while negative affect found in the average level. The study revealed also that parenting style was not significantly related to temperament. The analysis also showed that temperament and subjective well -being of the participants in terms of life satisfaction has a relationship while positive and negative affect were not significantly related. Finally, the results showed that parenting style is significantly correlated to subjective well- being in terms of life satisfaction and positive affect, while no relationship has found in the negative affect.<br/> |
