BENDO, JOHNRICH M., NUESTRO, CHRISTIAN G., PERIDO, JAYPEE G., Applied Research III, Laboratory School, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, March 2000. “Makabuhai Extract As Molluscicide.” Advisers: Prof. Eleanor G. Ersando<br/>Prof. Dulce L. Ramos<br/><br/>The research study entitled “Makabuhai Extract as Molluscicide”, was conducted from January 15-22, 2000 at Buna Lejos, Indang, Cavite. Generally, this research aimed to produce a safe and effective molluscicde out of the makabuhai plant to minimize if not totally control the Golden Apple Snails. Specifically, this research aimed to test the effectiveness of the makabuhai extract against the Golden Apple Snails under different treatments, determine the concentration that will give a highly significant result; and to determine whether the makabuhai plant has molluscicidal properties.<br/><br/>Five separate trials were made. The control group used the commercial molluscicide; the second trial used 25% of makabuhai extract and 75% water; the third trial used 50% makabuhai extract and 50% water; the fourth trial used 75% makabuhai extract and 25% water, and the fifth used 100% makabuhai extract. The first trial, the used of commercial molluscicide, obtained a highly significant result compared to the other trials which yielded a 100% mortality rate. The fifth trial gave 63.33% mortality rate on the first day, while on the next day it gave an exactly 100% mortality rate. Compared to the other treatments with different concentrations of the extract, except Treatment which is the use of commercial molluscicide, Treatment 4 also gave highly significant results.<br/><br/><br/> |
