Abstract: FERMA, JANSEL D. Statistical Process Control on a Ceramic Manufacturing Company, Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics with specialization of Statistics Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, April 2016. Adviser: Mr. Marc Jeffrey Sioco. Manufacturing commonly employs a man-machine setup with division of labor in a large scale production. Quality is very important for the consumers when deciding among competing products or services. Quality includes performance on how the product would do the intended job. Statistical Process Control is a of set methods monitoring production process through the use of control charts. It is an analytical decision making tool for estimating the future performance of a process. The study entitled "Statistical Process Control on a Ceramic Manufacturing Company" was pursued based on the data obtained from one of the manufacturing company in Cavite in order to evaluate the manufacturing process of a company applying Statistical Quality/ Process Control techniques. The study used the following techniques: detection of out of control: eight test for detecting "out-of-control" or non-random conditions on control charts; Pareto Diagram used to graphically summarize and display the relative importance of the differences between groups of data; and fishbone diagram to identify possible causes for an effect or problem. Based on the result, each process was affected by the assignable causes of variation that produced defective output. Control charts, Pareto chart, and fishbone diagram which gave information to the researcher to recommend action plans to reduce defective output and to optimize the process.
