Ilagan The study was conducted to find out the relationship between FM radio listenership and teenagers' preference on the language used in FM radio. It aimed to identify the demographic profile of the respondents who listen to FM radio, in terms of their age, gender and educational background and to determine the FM radio listenership and preference on language used in FM radio. With the aid of Purposive Sampling method, the study gathered respondents ages 15 to 19 regardless of gender and educational background. The actual survey was conducted to 105 teenagers in Asis 1, Mendez, Cavite, from January to February 2012. According to the result, majority of the respondents were female, highest percentage was within the age range of 15 to 16 and currently high school students. In terms of radio listening, 50 out of 105 respondents listen to FM radio every day for about one to two hours in a day. Sixty-one teenagers listen to two to three FM stations in a week while 55 respondents listen to two to three programs in a day. In different FM radio programs, comedy-talk segment was the most heard followed by talk shows about love and relationships. Third was radio drama then the full service or talk with variety music. Next is variety talk show and last was the news and current affairs show. On the other hand, 15 different indicators were presented in finding the language preference of the teenagers. These indicators were aided by three languages: English Filipino and Taglish. In terms of finding the relationship of age to respondents' preference on language used in FM radio, five indicators show significant relationship. In relating educational background, seven indicators also show significant relationship. Gender related to preference got three significant indicators. These indicators in different categories, therefore, rejected the null hypothesis while the remaining indicators accept Ho. Whereas in FM radio listenership, in relation to preference on language, used in FM radio, the null hypothesis was accepted.
