This study was conducted to determine the emergence of sharing selfie: An analysis of reasons for taking selfies of selected students in Cavite State University-Main Campus, Indang, Cavite. The study aimed to determine the reasons of adolescents for taking and posting selfies; determine how they perceive themselves while taking selfies: and determine how they feel upon posting and viewing their selfies on time. The five (5) participants of this study were officially enrolled students of Cavite State University, academic year 2015-2016 whose ages range from 16 to 25 years old and the participants doing. selfie five (5) times and above every day, and also post it in the social networking site. Purposive and convenience sampling were utilized in selecting the specific participants who participated in this study. The study was mixed method two self made survey questionnaires were used by the researcher in the quantitative approach to gather the needed data in the study; and another one for the qualitative approach. The analysis of the data that was gathered in qualitative approach to support the study was based on Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The researchers were also used to identify the interconnected reasons why adolescents take selfie. Based on the results of the study, majority of the participants were 18 years of age. In terms of gender, 4 of them were female and only one was male. Further, results revealed that majority of the participants learned to take selfie at the very young age. They learned to use it due to the influence of their friends, televisions, magazines and also the social networking sites. Usually, participants do not use filter in their pictures, for a reasons that they like to look natural on it. However, when they were with other people who use filter, they also do it, to conform to the set rules by the society. These participants take selfie as to divert their boredom, stress and problems. It serves as outlet of their feelings, thoughts and emotions. Also, with the trend in selfie nowadays, some of them considered it as their hobby.
