The study entitled "Development of Online Knowledge Portal of Crops for the Department of Agriculture in Maragondon, Cavite" was conducted because of the problems that the department is currently experiencing in terms of managing their report about crops and the poor dissemination of information for their clients. The study was conducted from March 2015 to February 2016 at Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. The proponents used prototyping methodology as the guide in developing the system. The portal was assessed using the ISO 9126 evaluation form.
The participants were composed of 45 individuals, five (5) of them were the employees of the Department of Agriculture in Maragondon, Cavite, 10 I.T. experts, and 30 citizens of Maragondon, Cavite. The data were gathered, tabulated, analyzed, and statistically treated using mean and standard deviation. The overall assessment resulted to a mean of 4.68 with standard deviation of 0.5248, interpreted as excellent. Thus, it was proven that the problems and difficulties encountered by the department were answered by the functions of the portal. It provides useful tools and functions for managing the reports of the department and flexible knowledge environment which the citizens can use to gain specific information and support their needs in terms of crops management.
