Abstract: GUINOCOR, REYSON B. and PATOSA, DANIEL T. Design and Construction of Supercapacitor Powerbank. Undergraduate Design Project Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. Adviser: Engr. Efren R. Rocillo. Supercapacitor is known in industry with a high capacitance and fast charge. Studying the information about supercapacitor leads on using it as a powerbank. Powerbank are used as a back-up source. The study was conducted from November 2015 to June 2016 at the Department of Information and Electrical Technology building, Cavite State University. The general objective of the study was to design and construct a supercapacitor powerbank. Specifically, this study aimed to: I. determine the number and specifications of supercapacitor with formula and computation; 2. design and construct control circuit of supercapacitor powerbank; 3. determine the specifications of battery to be used; 4. determine the number and specifications of solar panel to be used; 5. design and construct voltage regulator; 6. assemble dc-booster circuit for 19 V output; 7. design and construct voltage regulator for 5 V output; 8. assemble the system; 9. test and evaluate the system; and 10. conduct cost computation. The project was evaluated at Engineering Science (ES) building, CVSU, Indang, Cavite. The parameters such as input voltage, capacitance, ampere-hour, current, voltage, time and power output were measured. It was found that the theory about power input over power output must be considered to provide a well efficient source. A 5A input current of supercapacitor must considered to avoid infractions of the circuits before and after charging. The results of the evaluation met the requirement of the objectives to charge a battery and a laptop. It is evaluate by recording the charging time of a load which can charge the laptop about 8.08 percent and for SICK cellphone can charge about 196.97 percent; charging time of the supercapacitor powerbank which can charge about 2 hours and I minute. The results shows that the study was feasible because no other powerbank can charge a laptop than the supercapacitor do. Sooner and later, the community will benefit on this study when the project is developed and introduced. The total cost of the study amounted P 6,592.
