DINGLAS, MARIA CARMELLA A. and GRANADA, RENZIE ALLEN P. An Android Application for Calculation of the Aerobic Plate Counts and Microbiological Standards of Selected Food Samples. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Mr. Marlon R. Perefia.
The study was conducted to develop an android application for calculation of the aerobic plate counts and microbiological standards of selected food sample and address the problems faced by the organization such as: difficulty in calculating the aerobic plate counts on the spot, unavailability of recorded microbiological standards and lack of reference on general microbiology concept. The system or application was developed for fast calculation of the aerobic plate counts and identifying the status of every food samples in a microbiological standard in just ahead of time and to provide manual or lectures about aerobics plate counts, microbiological standard and food microbiology and terminologies which is about microbiology.
Prototyping Methodology was used for the development of the software. It has six (6) phases namely: requirements gathering and analysis, quick design, build prototype,
user evaluation, refining prototype and engineer product.
The system or application was developed using Android Studio for coding, SQLite for the database and Adobe Photoshop for editing graphic designs. Microsoft Word 2010 was used for the documentation.
The software evaluation used the following criteria: functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability and portability. IT experts from the Department of Information Technology, students and a professor from the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences served as the evaluators of the system. The system or application passed all the criteria for the evaluation and had met all the needed requirements for the application.
