Abstract: AMEN, ALEXANDER C., and PARALES, JOHNSON BRYAN T.Integer Linear Programming as Applied to the Trash Bin Allocation for Solid Waste Management at Cavite State University — Main Campus Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering Caite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Thesis Adviser: Mrs Mary Joyce P. Alcazar. This study aimed to determine the application of integer linear programming to the trash bin allocation for solid waste management at Cavite State University — Main Campus. The study also aimed to: determine the volumes of waste generated per college in the university; determine the current problems in the allocation of trash bins for the solid waste management at the university; identify the optimal solution for the allocation of trash bins using the approach of set covering problem; and, to recommend a layout for the allocation of trash bins within the university. The research design used by the researchers in this study was an experimental method. The source of the data in the study was obtained in the Physical Planning Unit (PPU) and Physical Plant Service (PPS). The data obtained was the official layout of the university and track taken by the dump truck in collecting waste in the university premises including the schedule in collecting the waste. Through the use of integer linear programming — set covering problem, the researchers came up with thirty-seven (37) trash bins allocated within the university premises. The comparison between the proposed allocation and the former locations of trash bins in the university were demonstrated in order to show the increase of service coverage of the trash bins. Based on the results of the set covering problem approach, in support of AMPL, Moments, there is a significant effect on the solid waste management of the university in the factors such as visibility, location and quantity of the trash bins.
