Abstract: CARBONELL, RENZ JOHN C. and SIOCO, MARC JONATHAN P. Development of an Android-based Security Surveillance Monitoring System for Engineering Science Building. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Mr. Bienvenido C. Sarmiento Jr. The main objective of the study was to develop an Android-based Security Surveillance Monitoring System. Specifically, it aimed to (l) design and construct a microcomputer circuit for the system; (2) create an android application for the system; (3) install the security system at Engineering Science building; (4) test and evaluate the system, and (5) determine the cost of the study. The system was composed Of: (1) Raspberry pi, which is the server for recording videos continuously; (2) five Dlink DCS-942L cameras for viewing and detecting motion at the main entrance of the first floor and the second floor of the building; (3) Linksys WRH54G router that gives an I.P. address to the cameras and server; (4) 8 GB micro SD card for the storage of the raspbian operating system of raspberry pi; and (5) 16 GB flash drive for the storage of the recorded videos. The system may be accessed through an android application developed for live viewing at the E.S. building, or the website for additional access and for the alarm system of the project. The project was tested and evaluated by the researchers' project adviser, technical critic, faculty members of the Department of Computer and Electronics Engineering, and security guard at E.S building on March 2016 to determine the viewing angle of the camera, the efficiency of continuous recording of videos, the accuracy of sending of video clips of the camera to a designated email when a motion was detected by the camera, the alarm system for the website when motion was detected by the camera, and the accuracy of the live streaming of videos in Android application. Based on the results of the evaluation, the live streaming of cameras in android application was available locally and camera I could be accessed outside the network if the RTSP port of camera I was allowed in the firewall; the alarm system in the website was accurate; the recording of videos for camera I and 2 were not stable because of the obstruction present between the router and the cameras; and the sending of video clips when a motion was detected was accurate. The viewing angle of the cameras was properly installed in order to minimize the blind spots of each camera; and all the materials were acquired and used efficiently for the development of the project. The total cost of the design was Php 34, 940
