Abstract: MANIMTIM, JOIE EMERENCE G. and PANGANIBAN, IVY JOY E. Retrofitting and Widening of Reinforced Concrete Deck Girder of Panaysayan Bridge at Barangay Hugo Perez, Trece Martirez City, Cavite. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2015. Adviser: Engr. Marcelino A. Dagasdas Jr. The study generally aimed to prepare a design of Reinforced Concrete Deck Girder Bridge in accordance to current load capacity and to widen the existing bridge that is essential to the design of safe and economical bridge. The bridge design aimed to enhance the knowledge of the researchers in designing reinforced concrete deck girder bridge. The design project included architectural drawings, detailed structural plans and total estimated cost. Manual computation was performed to analyze the whole structure. Only one lane of the bridge was used in the analysis of the bridge widening. A 5 Axle Truck Semi Trailer with 426.74 kN gross vehicle weight type of loading was used as live load. The total bridge length was 55.63 meters and divided into multiple spans. The first span has a length of 24.35 meters and the second span has a length of 31.28 meters. The column was located between the two spans. External post-tensioning was discussed and used as a method of retrofitting the existing bridge structure. About fifty percent of the existing bridge capacity was added through the method of external post-tensioning. Cost estimate for retrofitting was not included in the study.
