Abstract: ARELLANO, EUMCE D. Auto Engine Electrical System of Carburated Type Gasoline Engine Instructional Trainer. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Industrial Technology, major in Automotive Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Mr. Danielito R. Escano The carbureted type of gasoline engine operates through different engine electrical system. This comprises starting system, charging system and ignition system. For smooth operation and guiding principle of all in-line internal combustion engines, the engine electrical system plays an important role. Carbureted type gasoline engines are conventional type of engines commonly known and used for instructional demonstration in basic automotive technology courses. The design project served as an improved auto engine electrical system of a carbureted type in-line gasoline engine. The improved engines served as an enhanced prototype that will be useful in the teaching skills and deliverables of the automotive instructors during actual demonstration of the major subjects. The enhancement of the design project use terminal blocks with properly labeled connections coming from the engine going to the different components of the engine electrical accessories for easy trouble shooting and understanding of the different wirings of the systems such as ignition, charging, and starting systems respectively. Terminal blocks were used to eliminate the possibility of having loose connections and errors during actual wiring of the students and other users. Color coded terminal blocks were properly labeled which indicates the connection coming from the engine and other engine electrical components. The provided connectors with male terminals were fitted accordingly to the hole of the female terminal block. The results of the study revealed that charging system worked normally as the ammeter indicator pointed positively. Moreover, other systems observed was also working normally which signifies that the design project is easy to use and troubleshoot its electrical system components with ease of operation. The result of the evaluation from thirty respondents gave an overall rating of 4.70 with a corresponding degree of outstanding. The design project also proved to be interesting for the students because the basic foundation in auto engine electrical system starts with the carbureted type of gasoline engine which is the focus and feature of the design project. The total amount of the design project cost P 24,115.00.
