The project was conducted at Purok 6, Banaba Cerca, Indang, Cavite from October 8, 2015 to December 17, 2016. This was conducted to enhance the student's knowledge and skills in swine production through actual management and operation of swine enterprise; determine the profitability of swine raising, and gain profit from sales of pigs.
Production aspects of 4 heads of hogs with an average initial weight of 34.25 kg and at 3 months and 2 months of age was observed. The hogs were fed 3 times a day with an average of 9.15 kg of feeds a day and 2.29 kg of feeds per head. The pigs consumed a total of 50 kg starter ration and 600 kg grower ration.
After 71 days of rearing, the pigs recorded an average weight of 80 kg, average feed consumption of 162.5 kg, gain in weight of 45.75 kg, and average daily gain of 637.32 g giving an average feed conversion efficiency of 3.55 kg.
The total production cost of the project amounted to P37,018.00. A total sale of P44,800.00 and a net income of P7,782.00 were realized resulting to a return on investment (ROI) of 21.09%.
