Abstract: SHARMAINE R. AURE ZOILO J. CORPUZ FAITH E. IBASAN Effects of Child's Participation in sports at early age in selected public schools in Trece Martires City, Cavite. Undergraduate thesis Bachelor in Sports and Recreational Management. Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. May 2017. Adviser Mr. Victor Piores. Study was conducted at selected public schools in Trece Martires City, Cavite to evaluate the effects of child's early participation in sports at early age. Specifically, the study determined the effects of child's early participation in sports in terms of Psychological, social and physical health. Descriptive research design was utilized in this study. A total of 50 student athlete served as participants of the study, a survey questionnaire was used to identify the effects of child's participation in sports at early age. Results were tallied and organized into frequency counts, mean, range, and the percentage and standard deviation were calculated. The study concluded that majority of the student athletes were male and belonged to age group 11 to 12 years old. In terms of psychological effects physical activities such as sports in particular can positively affect aspects of personal development among young people, such as self-esteem, goal-setting, and leadership. However, evidence indicates that the quality of coaching is a key factor in maximizing positive effects. In social effects, a sport has positive effects in the interpersonal relationships of children athletes engaged in sports during the participation at early age. Parents perceived that regular physical activity benefits health of their children in many ways, including helping build and maintain healthy bones, muscles, joints; helping control weight and reduce fat; and preventing or delaying the development of high blood. pressure.
