Summary: PEGENIA, NERISSA V., "Cost and Return Analysis of Various Coconut-Based Multiple Crop Farm", B.S. Thesis, Agricultural Economics, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, April 1987. Adviser: Mr. Renato Marquez. This study was conducted in four upland towns of Cavite namely: Alfonso, Indang, Mendez and Silang. One hundred coconut-based multiple crop farmers were interviewed. This study aimed to determine the (1) socio- economic characteristics of coconut-based multiple crop farmers; (2) the different coconut based multiple cropping patterns; (3) production and marketing cost; (4) the net return obtained in the different cropping patterns; (5) the relationship of level of net income and cropping patterns; and (6) the production and marketing problems of coconut-based multiple crop farmers. The production of each cropping pattern differed from one another depending upon the kind of crops plan- ted in the area and ages of the crops as well as the price of each crop sold in the market. Average expenses (sum of production and marketing cost) reached as high as P34,352.40 (cropping pattern II). The lowest production cost was P12,901.25 (Cropping pattern I) whereas the highest was F32,025 (cropping pattern III). The average marketing cost was more than 600.00. In this kind of farming, higher net return was obtained. However, they differed from one another wherein cropping pattern III was the highest with an average amount of 334,626.75, others had an average net return of more than 49,000.00. With regards to the relationship between the level of net income of cropping pattern used chi-square results revealed that there was a significant relationship between the two. That is, net income depends on the type of cropping pattern being used. It was also proven that coconut-based multiple crop farming is a very profitable enterprise and a proficient source of income. The usual problems encountered by the farmers in both the production and marketing process were the attack of pests and diseases and low price of their harvested product
