Abstract: ESCALANTE, NINA MARIE Z. and TORRES, JENNIFER JOYCE 0. Centralized Database of College of Engineering and Information Technology CEIT D-BASE. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2008. Adviser: Ms. Charlotte B. Carandang. The study was conducted to develop a centralized database storage system for all the information of the different processes for the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) of Cavite State University (CvSU). The database system includes grading, student advising, e-library, recordkeeping and information on thesis archives. It aimed to analyze the system used by the college in handling records; design a centralized database that would improve the system of the college; develop the database scope; create the database schema of the system; and test and implement the system. The system included activities involving processing and storing data, and data support for report generations regarding the centralized database of CEIT. Researches through readings and Internet surfing were conducted to have clearer understanding and more knowledge on the CEIT database concepts. The database development life cycle was conducted at the proponents' residences in Naic and Indang, Cavite while database evaluation and testing were done in the College of Engineering and Information Technology. Database Development Life Cycle (DDLC) was used as the paradigm. MySQL version 3.23.32-beta was used as the database with WinMySQLAdmin Version 1.0 for Win95/Win981NT and SQLyog MySQL GUI - Enterprise Edition as a tool for database creation and maintenance. Database Normalization and Data Dictionary were used for system analysis and data management within the database. After passing the database evaluation and system testing, the study was found to be effective in providing the necessary function of storing, retrieving and sharing data within the organization. It was found to be a better tool for collecting and processing data and also an effective way for providing data for faster report generation as well as maintaining records safely.
