Abstract: CASALME, CATHERENE V. and MOJICA, LEONIL P. Development of an Automated Tool Cabinet for Electronic Products Assembly and Servicing. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Electronics Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Mr. Emerson C. Lascano. The study was completed for the benefit of both the students and instructors. The study focused on the development of an automated tool cabinet for electronic products assembly and servicing for students taking up Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Electronics Technology. It aims for the convenience of having most electronics tools available for borrowing and being automated by means of a database system called Borrowing and Returning System. This system is the only access to unlock the tool cabinet by the solenoid lock. It is also the only way of accessing the database aside from utilizing the database file directly. The specific objectives of the design project are design, construct, develop and install a computer system by assembling a desktop computer with operating system and borrowing returning system, test and evaluate the automation functionality of the design project, and prepare user’s manual for the usability of the automated tool cabinet for electronics product assembly and servicing. The design project were consist of an automated tool cabinet, computer and different tools such as soldering iron, soldering stand, desoldering pump, analog multi- tester, digital multi-tester, breadboard, power supply, mini drill, multiple alternative current (AC) / direct current (DC) adapter, precision screw, assorted screw, box cutter, wire stripper, diagonal pliers, diagonal cutters, hex key wrench. This project is limited in providing consumables materials like electronic components. The development of an automated tool cabinet for electronic products assembly and servicing was conducted following the different methods and strategies these methods includes: canvassing and purchasing of materials used in the design project; construction of tool cabinet; programming of arduino; construction of circuitry; testing of arduino in solenoid lock; assembly of desktop computer; installation of operation system and software; congregation of the tools; installation of borrowing and returning system; testing and evaluations. The design projects were placed at the electronics laboratory, Department of Industrial Engineering and Technology, College of Engineering and Information Technology, Cavite State University — Indang, Cavite. The evaluation of the finished designed project was highly acceptable by the instructors and students; the overall mean from all respondents was 4.69 with a descriptive rating of excellent. The design project cost a total amount of P 29,524.00.
