A four-month entrepreneurial development project was conducted in Sunshine Village Manggahan, General Trias, Cavite from December 3, 2015 to March 31, 2016. Generally, the project was conducted to determine the awareness of the entrepreneurs in applying their gained knowledge, skills and theories in business management to the actual business operations.The project aimed to: (1) determine the profitability of customized sneakers; (2) apply marketing strategies for customized sneakers; and (3) identify the problems encountered throughout the business operation and recommend feasible solution.
Shoemates offered tribal-designed shoes, flag-designed shoes, ribbon and laced shoes, dyed shoes, galaxy-designed shoes, shapes-designed shoes, words-designed shoes, character-designed shoes and plain colors. The entrepreneurs used different promotional tools like advertising, Internet marketing and personal selling in the business. With the starting capital of P30,000.00 equally shared by the entrepreneurs, the business generated a total sale of P45,750.00 and a net income of P15,455.80.
The project covered the functional management areas such as organization and management, production, marketing and finance. The entrepreneurs under a partnership type of ownership and organization performed activities and operations of these functional areas. Through this project, the students were able to apply their knowledge, skills and techniques in business operations. In addition, experience were gained in the various aspects of the entrepreneurial development such as good relations with the customer, decision making and p[erformance of business strategies. Data and other relevant information pertaining to entrepreneurial development projects were gathered through actual operations and observations.
