Abstract: BALICUDIONG, JAN CARLO F. and CROOC, WILMER D. File Management System for Faculty in Cavite State University — Main Campus Department of Information Technology. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Prof. Lydia D. Perido. The study, File Management System for Faculty in Cavite State University - Main Campus Department of Information Technology, was developed to help the faculty of the department to solve the existing problem in terms of file management. It lets the faculty members of the DIT store, secure, and retrieve files easily. It also provides the faculty fast generation of the report of the files in the department. Specifically, it aimed to: Specifically, the study aimed to: 1. gather information by conducting interview to identify the problem; 2. analyze the problem by conducting cause-and-effect using the fishbone diagram; 3. design a web-based file storage for user's data; 4. provide an easy way locate and complete data of the users; 5. develop a system that can easily create reports for the users; and 6. evaluate the system using integration and system testing. The iterative process development methodology was used in the development of the system It is divided into five phases which includes: planning and requirement phase, analysis and design phase, implementation phase, testing phase, and evaluation phase. The Hypertext Preprocessor (PIP) was used as the development language of the system and XAMPP v3.2.2 for the database, Adobe CS4 Photoshop was used to create and enhance the user interface of the system, the Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and Hypertext Markup Language used to create the template or the graphic user interface (GUI) of the system. The system undergone several series of testing and software. Twenty faculty members and 10 IT experts from Department of Information Technology evaluated the system to verify its functionality, reliability, usability, user-friendliness, efficiency, maintainability, and portability. In accordance to the results of the evaluation, the software is rated excellent, shows that the software met the set of objectives and requirements of the system.
