Effects of Sports Participation in Academic Performance of Student-Athletes of Trece Martires City National High School 2017-2018. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor in Sports and Recreational Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2018. Adviser: Prof. Zion Cleto The study was conducted from March to April 2018 at Trece Martires City National High School at Brgy. San Agustin, Cavite, to know the effects of sports in the academic performance of student-athletes. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1.) Determine The demographic characteristics of the respondents' in terms of age and sex; 2.) What are the sports events the student participate in and how long has they been playing; 3.) Determine their academic performance of participants in terms of GPA; 4.) To determine if there is significant difference in the academic performance of the student-athlete when grouped according to the demographic characteristics of the participants and to affect by sports participation. Descriptive research was used in the study and ANOVA F-Test. The target population for this study included all high school students that participate in school-sponsored sporting events. The respondents of the study were 74 student-athletes of Trece Martires City National High School. Majority of the participants were younger adolescents, most of the participants participated in sports are male rather than females, most of the participants play volleyball sports game. The results showed that the student athletes performed very satisfactory which means that their performance exceeded expectation. All goals, objectives and targets were achieved above established standards. Age, gender, sports played and years as players really contributed to the academic performance of high school student sports players in Trece Martires City National High School, during the School Year of 2017 to 2018. Demographic characteristics have high significant difference to the academic performance of the participants.
