The study was conducted from January to March 2018 at different cities and municipalities in the province of Cavite. The general objective of the study was to find out the level of perceived social stigma, coping mechanisms used and social adjustment and of the selected drug dependents in the province of Cavite. Specifically, 1.) identify the level of perceived social stigma of the selected recovered drug dependents; 2 ) determine the level of the social adjustment of the selected recovered drug dependents; .) determine the coping mechanisms they used; 4.) determine if there is a significant relationship between the perceived social stigma and social adjustment of by the participants; 5.) determine if there is a significant relationship between the social adjustment and coping mechanisms used by the participants; 6.) determine if there is there a significant relationship between the perceived social stigma and coping mechanisms used by the participants; and 7.) determine if coping mechanism is a mediator of the level of perceived social stigma and the level of social adjustment of the recovered drug dependents in the province of Cavite. In this study, descriptive-correlational was used as a method of research and survey questionnaires were used to gather data from 75 recovered drug dependents in thy province of Cavite. Frequency distribution, means, standard deviation, Spearman ran correlation and multiple regressions were used to obtain the prediction.
The results showed that the level of perceived social stigma and level of social adjustment, level of perceived social stigma and coping mechanisms and level of social adjustment and coping mechanisms are significantly related. Also, there are times coping mechanisms serve as mediator but it is not a big factor in mediating perceived social stigma and social adjustment.
