The orphans in this study manifested that they see their selves moderately in consistent with their self-image. They used certain defense mechanism in order to thwart undesirable feelings. In terms of the level of psychological distress, these orphans are experiencing a high level psychological distress. This means that due to the situation they are into as orphans. They continuously change due to the condition they are into plus the stresses associated with these. Regarding the coping mechanism these orphans are more in the used of problem-focused coping mechanism as compared to appraisal focused coping mechanism and emotional focused coping mechanism which are at in average levels only. Self-image and psychological distress have an almost negligible correlation. This indicates that the level of self- image does not affect the level of psychological distress as well as the level of psychological distress to the level of self- image. Self-image is also not significantly related with appraisal-focused, problem focused and self-image exhibit negative correlation. There is, however, a significant very low correlation of self-image with emotional-focused mechanisms Psychological distress and appraisal-focused and problem-focused exhibit a negative slight correlation. Similarly, psychological distress is also significantly related with a moderate correlation degree with emotional-focused mechanisms.
