Abstract: AVELIDA, ANNA LYN GONZALES, Philippine Steel Coating Corporation Cabuyao, Laguna. A Field Study. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Marketing, Cavite State University, April 2002. Adviser: Mr. Roderick M. Rupido. A field study was conducted at Philippine Steel Coating Corporation (PSCC) at Km. 47 Bo. Pulo, Cabuyao, Laguna. The general objective of the study was to enable the student to apply the gained knowledge in Business Management to actual situation. It also aimed to describe the policies and procedures employed by the PSCC; describe the different activities in the Dispatch Scheduling Unit of the Company; and identify problems encountered by the firm and recommend feasible solutions to the problems identified. Data and information were gathered primarily through observations and personal interviews with company employees. Secondary data were collected from the company manuals, files and records, and other relevant information were gathered through researches from Tagaytay City Library and from the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Philippine Steel Coating Corporation's primary purpose is to engage in the manufacturing and marketing of galvanized iron products and pre-painted colored-sheets from a continuous galvanizing line and metal sheet color coating line, a sheer and slitting line roll forming equipment and of other articles of merchandise of similar nature. Some of the common problems encountered by the firm were shortage of delivery, stock rejections and encountering delivery truck defects. In order to solve these problems, the company should store large volumes of their buffer stock so the delivery will come easy and manageably. For stock rejections, the firm should adopt very strict rules and regulations regarding quality control. For the delivery truck, an early checking for defects should be done so the delivery will not be delayed.
