Abstract: LUMIBAO, DIANNE D. Demographic Characteristics, Self-efficacy and Psychological Well-Being of Selected Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ) Drivers and Tricycle Drivers in Indang, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2013. Adviser: Cecilia B. Banaag, PhD. This study sought to answer the predictors of psychological well-being of Public Utility Jeepney and Tricycle drivers in Indang, Cavite. The study involved 161 jeepney drivers and 306 tricycle drivers. General Self-Efficacy Scale and Ryff Scale of Psychological Well-Being were the instruments used. Mean, frequency, percentage, standard deviation, t-test, Mann Whitney U-test; Spearman rho, Chi-Square, and Regression Analysis were employed as statistical tools. Drivers in Indang Cavite were on the latter stage of early adulthood or the settling down stage, that is why majority were married. All of them attended formal education however; majority of them only finished their secondary level of education. Jeepney drivers have longer years of driving experience compared to tricycle drivers. Furthermore, drivers had a nuclear/traditional type of family. Jeepney drivers and tricycle drivers were confident that they could deal efficiently with unexpected circumstances. Furthermore, they believe that they could solve every problem if they exert much effort into it. Jeepney and tricycle drivers were found to have difficulty in trusting other people and in dealing with interpersonal relationships. They lack improvement and development over time. They did not give much attention to their future goals and aims in life. However, drivers can easily adjust and seek opportunities in the environment. They can think and decide for themselves. Lastly, they hold a positive attitude about themselves. There is a significant difference between jeepney drivers and tricycle drivers in terms of civil status, number of years as a driver, and level of general self-efficacy. There is also a significant relationship between educational attainment and personal growth. Civil status is also significantly related to self-efficacy and psychological well-being. Number of family members is significantly related to self-efficacy and personal growth. Among the demographics, number of family member is a predictor of personal growth. Lastly, self-efficacy is significantly related to positive relation to others, autonomy, personal growth, environmental mastery, self-acceptance and psychological well-being in general.
