BELIGANIO, EDILYN P., LUNA, LOWIE NITO A., and LIZA B. TTBAYAN. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Steel Design of Four Storey Building for Physical Science Department. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2002. Adviser: Engr. Marcelino A. Dagasdas.
The proposed four storey building for Physical Science Department was analyzed and designed because of the accelerating indigence of classrooms and laboratory rooms due to the continuous increase of the number of students. Steel was the chosen material to be used because of its high strength characteristics and since it's the modern and most economical now a days. Structural Aid Analysis and Design (STAAD III) Linear Analysis Method was used in analyzing the building frames and truss. Combinations of lateral, seismic and vertical loads were used in the analysis of the structure. The design including with the architectural and structural drawings were made manually. The design project also aims to determine the estimated cost which was based from the thrust of the university in order to contribute a reference for future implementation of the project. Scaled model was also developed to show the outcome of the design.
Safety, strength, economy and aesthetic in general were considered in the design of the whole structure.
